It has been announced that the unexpected death of Cory Monteith was alcohol and heroin related. The Glee star passed away Saturday, he was found dead in his hotel room by the staff at Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel in Vancouver. Foul play has been ruled out, and according to the Express

British Columbia Chief Coroner Lisa Lapointe said Mr Monteith was dead for several hours before his body was found. Records from his key fob indicated he had been in the room alone. 

In April of this year, Cory Monteith checked himself into rehab to deal with his long battle with drug and alcohol addiction. He had admitted to doing “anything and everything, as much as possible” and had said that he felt lucky to be alive. His girlfriend, Glee co-star Lea Michele, had said that she was proud of him for reaching out for help.

Monteith’s Glee co-stars and friends throughout Hollywood took to Twitter and other social media outlets Sunday to remember the late star. Fox also issued a statement about the actor’s death: “We are deeply saddened by this tragic news. Cory was an exceptional talent and an even more exceptional person. He was a true joy to work with, and we will all miss him tremendously. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones.”
