Clinician

Sarah is a clinician at Steps to Recovery, focusing primarily on StR’s Phase II outpatient program. Sarah has obtained a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Connecticut and holds a Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work from Fordham University. Sarah’s approach in substance abuse counseling revolves around using her personal experience and a mental health approach that emphasizes building a trusting relationship and connections with self and others. While using a framework of compassion and empathy, Sarah follows a client centered approach that allows each client to become self-aware and understanding of the disease of addiction. Sarah has recently participated in an Equine Assisted Counseling training, which utilizes the use of horses in a therapeutic approach within the field of addiction counseling. StR has begun to offer off site Equine therapy to its clients monthly, in order to enhance the client experience and allow for connection, self-awareness and self-identification to develop in the early recovery process.
